So, What’s Happening with Medium?
Medium used to be the go-to platform for writers. But lately, the algorithm feels more like a drunk teenager, promoting all kinds of AI-generated rubbish instead of quality writing. Add to that the fact that you need a million reads to earn $10, and it’s hard to see the value in putting effort into the platform.
That said, if you know how to use SEO, Medium is still one of the best places to promote your work. Without SEO? Pack your bags. It’s only going to get worse.
And What About Substack?
Substack might be the new cool kid on the block, and yes, it has a growing community. It’s also great for promoting your work–even if you don’t paywall your posts. But here’s the thing: without solid marketing skills, be willing to post 5-10 notes a day, and engage like crazy – Substack is a long game.
