Chapter 2
Ideation: The Super Easy Process to Help You Earn Your First $500 FAST!
There are three types of writers. The first jumps on every idea blindly and gets to work right away. The second procrastinates, going back and forth, never really taking that leap of faith. The third type of writer does a quick research before diving headfirst into inspiration. Which type of writer are you?
In the next few minutes, I’ll walk you through a simple process that every writer serious about turning their passion into a paycheck does—or should do. The first step toward this cushty paycheck is deciding that you actually want to write that book.
So many people walk around with million-dollar ideas in their heads, battling with themselves daily: Should I pursue this idea, should I not? They often end up going back and forth, getting exhausted just from the process of rumination.
The next step toward a big, fat payout is writing down your idea. If you haven’t already, it’s time to open the floodgates and move those thoughts from your head onto paper. Don’t worry; it doesn’t need to be perfect. We’re just at ground zero here, fertilizing the soil that will become the home for your abundant fruit tree.
Ideally, you'll follow the steps as you read along. Don’t just read this book without taking action. I want you to earn from writing a book—that’s the whole reason you invested in this one, right? To help you make money doing what you love.
I want to be brutally honest with you because the internet is filled with toxic positive advice, and we don’t need more of that BS. The fastest way to start earning from your next bestseller is by doing the whole thing with me—step by step, bit by bit. This will not only help you overcome the fear of failure and procrastination, but it will also set off a parade of fireworks inside your clever little head as we go along. You’ll be surprised by how much inspiration the next few steps can shower you with.
Take a deep breath and put a big smile on your face. Say it with me: "It’s easy! It’s so easy to write a book and earn money from it! It’s so freaking easy!" Now exhale.
Tell me, what is your book about? I’m so curious—what do you want to write about? If you’re not sure yet, let me help you.
The short answer is: It's best to write your first e-book about a skill you already have. Honestly, don’t overthink it! Here are some great examples:
You make aromatherapy candles — You could create an e-book like "The Smart Way to Start a Profitable Aromatherapy Business From Home in 2024."
You’re a software engineer — You might write a "How to Master Python in 3 Days for Dummies" handbook or "How to Ace Your Python Interview in 3 Simple Steps."
You’re a dog trainer — You could write an e-book on "How to Train the Most Disobedient Dogs in 3 Short Days" and include some great affiliate links for extra income.
Remember, we’re not aiming for a Nobel Prize in Literature here. We just want to get you from $0 to your first $500 in the next week or so. So stop overthinking and put that idea for a New York Times bestseller on the shelf for now. You can come back to it once you’ve created this 15-page e-book and ticked off all the boxes required to fulfill the promise of the title of this book. (smile)
I also want to mention that even if you're aiming for a book deal with a major publisher, you'll need to have these steps figured out before they'll let you sign on the dotted line. And even if you're lucky enough to get published by one of the big guys, you'll need the next part of this book more than anyone to actually move some stock. If you don't want your published books gathering dust on a shelf in the middle of nowhere, be sure to follow these few simple steps.
Now that you have a rough idea for your book—and maybe even a title—the next step is to gather some facts. As writers, we often base our book sales expectations on human bias. For example, you might think, “My friend, Bella said she saw a Facebook post about XYZ topic that went viral, so I should totally write a book about it, quit my job, and become filthy rich." Sound familiar?
I’m not here to shatter your illusions; I’m here to guide you toward your riches.
There are over 8 billion people on this planet, and 5.4 billion of them use the internet daily. With such a massive audience online, the chances of writing an ebook that sells for $27 per copy and earning $100,000 from it are actually quite promising.
Let me break this down for you:
To make $100,000 by selling a book at $27 per copy, you'd need to sell about 3,704 copies. To earn your first million, you could either sell 37,040 copies of the same book or write ten books that each sell the same number of copies at the same price.
While the potential market size is pretty huge, let’s not ignore the elephant in the room—your book sales depend on factors like marketing, audience targeting, book quality, and competition. Although the idea of earning $100K from a single book may seem optimistic, it is definitely achievable with the right strategy.
This book is here to teach you that strategy.
So, what’s next? Well, my friend, instead of asking your uncle Jon and your neighbors, Oscar and Wilma, to vote on your future book via a Facebook poll, your best bet is to look on the internet.
